Highpoint Addition
Renovation & Addition, Grey Highlands
This addition and renovation project transforms a dated 1970’s family chalet into a refined contemporary retreat, seamlessly integrating the modern addition with the original chalet. The new addition introduces clean lines, carefully designed spaces, and a refined material palette that elevates the chalet while maintaining its comfort, character and ease of living.
The design’s quiet sophistication required exacting execution and craftsmanship at every stage. European oak flooring extends onto ceilings, while matching millwork reinforces a consistent material language throughout. Carefully designed reveals conceal blinds from view and reinforce the home’s clean, uncluttered aesthetic. Fully recessed stair lighting and indirect illumination integrated into ceiling overhangs ensure that lighting feels architectural and intentional rather than added afterward.
The primary suite was opened up to create a spacious bedroom retreat with an updated ensuite featuring modern finishes and amenities. An under-utilized space at the top of the stairs was transformed into a highly functional walk-in closet, improving both flow and everyday livability.
Behind the understated appearance lies an exceptional level of craftsmanship, coordination, and attention to detail. Delivered through close collaboration with the client, architect and designer, tradespeople, and project team, the project demonstrates how thoughtful design and meticulous execution can bring a deceptively simple design to life – breathing fresh life into a family retreat.
